in Blogging, Make Money Online

Make money online is one of the most searched word in the Internet these days because many people really want to know how to earn money online. There are lots of information you can get from the Internet on how to start your journey on online money making.

Blogging is one sure and safe way to make money online. However, it is not instant that you can quit your daily job. I tell you straight, it not easy, it requires large amount of your time and money. There is no rocket science when you want to earn income from blogging.

There are lots of information out there about how to start making a website or blog and they require you to pay a big amount of money. Don’t be hooked up to this sites, you can get it for free in the Internet. Actually, I listed here how to start to make a profitable blog. You can see the list below to give you an idea.

1. Choose a profitable niche

A niche is what the blog is all about. For example, the niche of this blog of mine is finance but it is very general. I think the more appropriate niche for this is personal finance. You can blog anything but if it is not profitable, you will not make money online.  For example, if you blog about earthworms it will not give you money since only few people search about it.

To choose for a profitable niche, you need to know what people want and search in search engines like Google and Yahoo. Many people search for make money online, finance, investing, new gadgets, latest technology, news, music, and movies. I think you may consider these niches if you don’t have any in mind. It should be also your interest and your a bit knowledgeable about it.

2. Think of a domain name related to your niche

Your domain name is very important. Think a domain name that can be easily remember. As much as possible, it should be short as possible and don’t use special characters in your domain name like hyphen, ampersand and others. Only use letters.

The dot com ending is the most popular and easy to remember so I suggest to use it when registering your domain name.

3. Buy a domain name and web hosting

Domain name is the address site of your website or blog. For example, google.com or learnfinancialeducation.com. Web hosting is where your website or blog is located or housed. You need to have both. You may buy both at the same time or separately. However, I suggest to buy both as a package because it is little cheaper.

There are many cheap web hosting companies that offer both domain registration and web hosting at the same time. I think JustHost is one of the cheapest for hosting and domain registration. When I register my domain plus free web hosting for two years, I only paid $77. This is a lot cheaper than any other web hosting companies out there.

I personally used it and it has a superb customer service support. The software they use is also user-friendly. I easily set up my blog in just few minutes.

JustHost is one of the cheapest and the best web hosting with free domain. You will just pay as low as $3.45 per month. You can lower that price if you will get a 2 or 3- year plan for your web hosting services plus you get a free domain.

There are domain name you can get register for free using Blogspot and WordPress. However, your domain is long and with the blogspot.com or wordpress.com. If you really want to make money online, you should buy your own domain. Your blog looks professional if you have your own domain name.

4. Set-up your site/blog to WordPress platform

WordPress is the most popular blogging platform and website-builder software today. It has many features you can easily use for building your blog. There are a lot of plug-ins that can help you to set up your blog or website easily. You can choose your theme and the overall appearance of your site. If you don’t know HTML code  or advance programming,  WordPress is the best platform you need because it requires no HTML editing.

5. Research for highly searched keywords related to your niche

There are many tools to do this. You can use first the free tools which I am also using like Google Keyword Tool. It is very easy to use and you are sure that the results are accurate since it is the product of Google.

With Google Keyword Tool, you can find many keywords that are related to your targeted keywords, the number of searches for that keywords and how much advertisers pay for that keyword when they use Google Adwords.

It is very important that your keywords are highly search and high paying keywords. However, don’t just focus on keywords, your article should also be informative, easy-to-understand and readable by your readers.

6. Write articles related to your keywords

Write a 300-word article related to your keywords. Make sure that you don’t use many times your keywords, the recommended is less than 3% of the total words of your article. Make it informative and easy to understand by your visitors. Check spellings and grammars for any errors before publishing your article. Break sentences into paragraphs so that it will be easier to rad. Make at least 5 paragraphs for your article.

7. Optimized your pages and articles

WordPress has many plug-ins for page optimization. You can use it to optimize your articles.  You need  to change the title tags, add meta description, add keywords and add tags to your articles.

In this tasks, you should learn how to optimize your blog on-site and off-site. Search engine optimization (SEO) will play the big role in your optimization strategy so you must study and learn how to do it.

8. Drive traffic to your blog/website

I think this step is the hardest part to do based on my experienced. A blog is useless if there are no visitors reading your blog so it is very important that your website will be seen by many people. You cannot get visitors automatically when you post an article, you need to make it known to the Internet that your page exist.

You can drive traffic or visitors by different ways. You can post your articles on Twitter, Facebook and other social bookmarking and networking site. I think this is the easiest way to drive traffic to your site. You can also make comments on other blogs with high traffic with a link pointing to your site. You can also try article marketing by using Article Marketing Robot and link exchange with other webmasters.

The best way to drive traffic to your site is by getting your site on Google’s first search page for your keywords. This is the best traffic you can ever have. But I tell you straight: it is very hard and will cost you a lot of time and money. Get many back links as many as possible because it will be one factor to rank high in Google search.

9. Monetize your site with Adsense and other affiliate sites

Google Adsense is the most popular and used monetization by almost all webmasters and blogger. You need to apply first for an account before you can put Adsense code on your blog. It may take several weeks of processing and approval. You can also put text ads within your article. I used Infolinks for in-line text ads.

You can also apply apply for Amazon affiliates which you can sell books, mp3 or gadget depending on your niche.

10. Continue to posts more articles

It is recommended to post at least 3 articles in your blog every week so your blog will be updated. Search engines like a website that is frequently active. The more articles you have in your blog, the greater chance that search engine can get your pages.

If you like to make money online by blogging, you need a lot of work, time and money. It is not a get-rich-quick activity or a rocket science. It is also better to blog on the things you really like and interested so that you have the eagerness to post more articles. You can used all available monetization as long as it will not look like an advertisement website.

Disclosure: Some of the links in this article are affiliate links. Whenever you use that link and buy the product, I will earn some commission.
