Why did that happen when BPI has 50 k limit?

Hi Sandra,
If the account is below the maintaining balance for 2 months, it will be charged a fee or penalty so you need to add more deposit to make it above the maintaining balance.

If your bank account has zero balance for at least one month, I think it will be automatically close.
However, you can still confirm this by going to your bank to ask if the account number is still active or not.

Hi,
The articles you have shared are really informative and helpful to those who wish to have a good financial management.
I would like to clarify the maintaining balance that BPI requires. In the third introduction paragraph, it was stated that the maintaining balance are as follows:
1. BPI Savings Account: 3,000.00 Php
2. BPI Family SA: 1,000.00 Php
3. BPI Direct SA: 500.00 Php
In the body of the article, the steps in filing an application for a savings account in BPI was shown. On the third step, the initial deposits are discussed depending on the respective maintaining balance that BPI imposed. The maintaining balance stated are the following:
1. BPI ATM: 3,000.00 PHP
2. BPI ATM Family SA: 1,000.00 PHP
3. BPI SA with Passbook: 10,000.00 PHP
Does this mean that when you will be issued a passbook, the maintaining balance is way much bigger? =0
Can you please share their difference.
Thank you very much.

I followed the link you’ve provided:
http://info.bpiexpressonline.com/bpiprod/produpd.nsf/Deposit+Rates/DepositRates1
and it brought me on today’s rates. =)
Are the interest rates given Gross(with no withholding tax yet) or NET(taxed already)?

Hi Mitch,
If your account is above the maintaining balance, which I think is above because it is P50k, it will not be closed. However, you need to withdraw or deposit any amount of money so it will become active again. Because most banks charge a dormancy fee after 2 years of inactivity. It is around P200 per month.

Hi, normally the bank requires two ID, maybe you can present your school ID and a birth certificate..But per BSP, it is enough to open an account, just for one ID.

Hi, normally the bank looks for two ID. If you have an ID with a picture and a birth cert., i think it is enough. In BPI, you can open an ATM account for as low as P500.

to have a sure-ball approved card, you may try Express Start: invest your money to a time deposit (min 10k), and 80% shall be your limit.
it’s easy to have a BPI Express Credit Card, as long as you have a.) 15k min salary/mo b.) no negative records in other banks c.) regular status at work

I had a problem with my accountl just got my express online activated via net and ATM machine, then, when I got home and checked if it’s already available, the system told me that my account is disabled, I tried to check it in the ATM, my account is not available as well.
So I talked to the phonebanker and asked what should I do. They told me that my account is active; They told to nominate another password for my online account and activate it AGAIN in the machine. I’ve tried it. Nothing happens. My account is just 2 days old when it happened.
