Philippine National Bank (PNB) is one of the oldest and most established banks in the Philippines which is also listed in Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE: PNB) as a public company. PNB is one of the largest banks in the Philippines, ranking fourth in terms of assets.
It was established by the Philippine government on July 22, 1916, during the American colonial period, and became the first universal bank in the Philippines in 1980. It was privatized in 1989 and currently has over 100 branches throughout Asia, Europe, the Middle East and North America.
In order to open a savings or checking account in PNB, complete requirements are very important for faster approval and to avoid hassles. It is also advisable to apply Internet, mobile and phone banking at the same time when you apply for PNB bank account.
Internet or phone banking is a good service offered by PNB since it will give you access to your account anytime and anywhere as long as there is an internet connection. You can also pay your bills like MERALCO bills online if you have Internet banking account.
You can see below the step by step procedures on opening a savings or checking account in PNB.
- Select first what PNB branch will you going to open an account. Choose the branch near your residence or place of work.
- Bring complete requirements when opening PNB bank account.
- Bring money for initial deposit. It is advisable to have an initial deposit equal to maintaining balance to avoid fees later. For ATM and passbook savings account, initial deposit is P5,000 and P10,000 respectively.
- For peso checking account, minimum initial deposit is P10,000.
- Don’t forget to bring ball pen when opening a bank account since you need to fill-up application forms. It is better to be ready than to borrow ball pen from others.
- Go to new account desk upon arriving in the bank. Bank officer will give you application forms; fill it up with the required data completely.
- When you’re finished in filling up all forms, give your initial deposit together with the application forms and requirements to the bank officer for checking and approval. This may take just few minutes if there are no problems with your application forms and requirements.
- Normally, ATM or passbook will be available for pick-up to your PNB branch after 5 banking days had passed or you may ask the bank officer when it will be available to be sure.

Hi Anne,
You could go directly to PNB branch near your place in Cebu. I think they have a branch there, just look it in their website. Thanks.
andito ako ngayun sa abroad paano ako maka open nang account thru online?
Hi Anne,
I think no way to do that. You need to appear in person at the bank to get your signature.
hi, matagal ko na kc po di nagagamit ang PNB atm ko, tanong ko po if san ko mkikita ang account number ko kc balak ko po depositan ulit ng pera.
Hi,
Just call PNB customer hotline to tell your problem, they will instruct you on what to do next.
hi?magtanong lang sana ako kung magkano ang bayad if mag-open nang bank account?cuz i see ur websites that its a 5,000 or 10,000..wat if i opened bank account then i deposit only 2,000..so what happened of my bank account.hinde ko kasi msyado maintindihan…
ok tnx…
di po pwede 2000 lang dapat po 5000 tapos maximum of 10000 na po iyun.,
what i know is you need at least P10,000.00 to open a passbook account. If ever you withdrawn your money and retain P2000.00 as what you are saying, then your account will be considered dormant. You need to maintain P10k for you not to be charged a dormant fee I guess P200 per month. Please refer to the new policy of the bank regarding dormancy of account.
hindi mo maintindihan ewan ko syo ang slow mo!
Can anyone tell me which bank provides a credit card debit card? its like a card that has a visa number and visa logo on the card, but the money amount is from your own savings? Not a ongoing line of credit. Is there a bank in the philippines that offers this?

Hi Genalyn,
You should have a PNB Internet banking to see your statement of account.

Hi Malou,
The bank requires you go personally at the bank when you are applying for a bank account.
Maybe you can apply when you return to the Philippines.

Hi people!
I don’t know if its familiar in your ear the connection of PNB to Cebuana Lhulier in the Philippines
especially in dAANBANTAYAN CEBU? every time the cebuana
Lhulier got an allibi why they dont give the money to the benifiaciary. ( If the benificiary got a complete ID they will tell they will not give the money because they got no connection in the internet to pnb….. And if they got connection they will tell to the beneficiary that she needs a postal ID, and if the benificiary got a postal ID , then they still will not give the money because the cebuana Lhulier has not enough money they said..And if they have enough money & the customer is new or a little bit shy, then they will tell the benifiaciary to let it transfer to other name.. When it transfered to other names with all the necessarry papers, then they will tell that the other benificiary has to comeback, they must be together… Can somebody tell or explain what is really the reason???
I Sonia Singh having problem with PNB Net Banking, When I try to transfer money from my saving PNB to SBI bank through net banking , most of the times it gets reverted back to my PNB account. This has happened to me more than 5 times. They also deduct 5 rupees for each transaction even if the money is not transferred to the SBI bank account. I have contacted to the PNB customer care at complaint@pnb.co.in, my branch manager, and even submit complaint at Consumer Court http://www.consumercourt.in/bank-account/16773-pnb-net-banking-complaint.html but they don’t reply at all, I know the problem is with PNB side only because if I try to transfer money from another bank to SBI it gets transferred properly.
Sometimes its really urgent and the money gets reverted back and I have to pay 5 Rs. for each transaction even if it is not successful. If any one have any idea or faced such issue in past or facing such issue please contact me at cbnimbhal@gmail.com.
