Why It Pays to be Diligent

in Bible and Money

Occasionally,¬† I’m posting topics related to Bible, personal finance and money. Here’s why I’m doing this. I would like to point out in this post about the Bible verse below:

Lazy hands make a man poor, but diligent hands bring wealth. —Proverbs 10:4

The Bible clearly teaches that lazy people cannot be and will not become rich and there’s no secret on becoming wealthy. Wealth is a byproduct of our diligent hands.

diligent hands

Do you know any wealthy people who are not diligent in what they do, whether it is their job or business? Diligence really pays at the end so it is very important that we also pass it on to our children.

Did you know that the second richest person in the world, Bill Gates, works most of the time until 10 PM everyday? So his wealth is not only the result of his intelligence but also the diligence and hard work he put in his company.

Sometimes, the sad truth is some families were wealthy in the past but the parents were not able to teach their kids about diligence and hard work. The result is that the children become lazy and overspend what they already have.

In my previous post, I talked about that laziness is one of the traits why people are poor. We should realize that money should be earned by our hard work  and diligence in the work or business that we have. We should not resort on gambling or betting in Lotto to become rich, we need to be diligent in order to earn more.

How about you, what are your takes on this?
