What is the Best SEO Strategy for Blogs?

SEO is a must for every blogs and websites because it is a great source of traffic and visitors. If your blog can be seen in the first page of search results, it can have a free unlimited traffic. Search engine traffic is the best traffic out there because you don’t need to pay and it’s free. However, your ranking is not permanent, it may change for some time because of many factors involved. I will discuss it later why it is changing. Popular blogs and websites do SEO regularly because there are many competitions out there especially in the online world and search engines algorithm update like the latest Google Panda update.

If you are a newbie in SEO, you don’t need to worry about how to learn it. Actually, it is very simple and you don’t need to pay for you to learn how it works. However, sometimes, you can try a proven technique that requires payment for a product or membership. I will not discuss about it deeper here. I want you to focus more on FREE and doable tactics that you can do to make your SEO a good one.

I’ve read many blogs teaching and suggesting on how to do the best SEO for blogs. All of them ca be summed up in short phrases. The best SEO for your blog:

Best SEO Strategy = Quality contents + Good links!

That’s the strategy I carried out to rank my blogs high enough to be seen in Google and Yahoo’s first search result page. It is easy to understand the equation but it is not easy to carry out because it requires adequate skills and hard work.

Tips on Writing Quality Contents

Quality content will stand out in the eyes of search engines. However, it requires research and good writing skills so it is important to learn basic grammar and correct spelling of words that you use. The content should be easily understand by your reader, make it straight to the point what you want to tell them. As much as possible, write in simple and plain English because many of your readers might be not good in reading English.

Quality contents answer questions the readers might be looking, give encouragement and enlightenment to them. It inspires your readers prompting them to share your article in Facebook, Twitter and other social networking sites. In other words, they are satisfied readers that will come back to your blog regularly to read more about the topics they are interested at.

Make sure that the facts you’re writing are true and up-to-date. You can do this by researching first about your topic particularly if it is changing constantly like finance and banking topics. It would be good to put the reference where you get the information on the bottom part of your post or may be directly include it in the body of the article so that your readers will know the exact source of the topic or news.

A high-quality content should be unique and original. You must not copy any articles from other sites, if you do so you can be penalized for plagiarism which can cause banning of your sites from search engine indexing. If you want to copy a post, make sure you have permission from the owner or you can put a link back to the site where you copy that article.

What is a Good Link?

There are commonly two types of link you can get from other blogs or websites: one-way and two-way link. A one-way link is a link from blogs pointing to your website without requiring you to link back to them. On the other hand, a two-way link is reciprocal wherein your blog should also link to other site that links to your blog and it is common during a link exchange. Beware that you don’t link to any site, just choose websites or blogs that are similar to your topic and not a spam.

It would be better if you can get a one-way link but this is hard to do. One method to get a one-way link is by commenting through other blogs related to your topics. Don’t spend time making comments on irrelevant blogs. For example, if your blog is about travel and tour, you should post comment on blogs about traveling, vacation and hotels. You can also get one-way link from forums and article submission websites.
