in Bible and Money

This post is somewhat irrelevant to money topics. However, this blog is not all about money. There are many things in this world more important than money.

Don’t get me wrong, money is important.

But it is not all about money.

We are living in this generation when many people forget to honor their parents especially for those people who have bad experience about their parents. But honoring our parents is one of the commands in the bible with a promise.

Ephesians 6

King James Version (KJV)

1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. 2 Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise; 3 That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.

What is the promise?

Those people who honor their father and mother will live long on this earth. I believe living long on earth is coupled with abundance in every aspect of our life. Abundance in love, joy and financial provisions from God.

Maybe you’re thinking how to honor your parents?

One thing I have in my mind is to help them financially if you are capable to. If you are getting income from your job or business, why not give some portion of your money to your parents.

From that money, they can buy some clothes or shoes that they are desiring for a long time. Perhaps, they want to go to the doctor for a medical check up and that money will surely help to pay the bill.

On the other hand, if you are still studying as a student and you depend entirely to your parents for your tuition and everyday needs, why not strive to get high grades and study hard. It is one thing that you can do to honor your father and mother.

Finally, the simplest but not the easiest way to honor your mommy and daddy is to obey them. They only want what’s good for you, believe that.
